You gotta regatta!
The Cardboard Boat Regatta has become one of the Little Miami's biggest events and this year's event will be one you don't want to miss.
Get your work staff, church group, classmates and teammates, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, friends and family and build a boat. People only have to be eight years old or older as of August 19, 2023 to participate. With some effort and a lot of cardboard, duck tape and contact cement you build a boat for you to "sail" in across the waters of Oeder's Lake. You and your crew will compete IN YOUR BOAT in races against others. Yes, these are boats that you race in on the water. Heat after heat will be run until we have our winner.
Hero's Race
Each year we run a Hero's Race open only to veterans, police, fire and emergency personnel. Each year's winner claims the trophy and bragging rights and needs to come back the following year to defend their title.
Crash and Sink Derby
For many, the highlight of the day is the derby finale! Anything that's still floating (or even close to floating) is put back in the water for a winner-take-all / last-one-to-sink contest. Kids and adults splash and swim boat to boat as they try to sink everyone else. In the end, everyone ends up in the water!
What else is there to do?
Food vendors and bounce houses for the kids. Other kid's crafts are provided by some of our sponsors.

BOAT CATEGORIES
“Cardboard Boat Race”
From one to however many you can fit in a boat! Boats will be placed into heats and compete in a bracket format until we have an overall winner. There will be two age brackets:
8-14 and 15+ years of age.
Oldest person in the boat determines the age bracket!
“Crash Derby”
Last boat floating wins! Boats that already raced earlier that day and are still floating can enter this category at no additional charge. Boats entering just the derby must pay the entrance fee below. All regatta boat building rules applies. There are additional Crash Derby rules of engagement.
“Hero’s Race”
This one heat race is open to all military, police and fire department personnel. Winner takes home the coveted Hero’s Race Trophy and is expected to return the following year to defend their title!

Registration 9:30 to 10:30 AM
Racing begins at 11:30 AM
Bounce house, games and activities for families after boat registration before racing starts.
